In order for my class to develop positive gender identities, racial identities, and individual identities, posters, and signs will be assigned, and children will be encouraged to be involved in creating these posters. I would suggest that the children create and decorate their posters however they wish, including a statement stating that everyone belongs. As an example, I would show the poster that I made with my classmates at school to convey the message that everyone belongs.
Throughout our project, I will also play videos that discuss the importance of valuing and respecting each other's identity, the need to treat each other with kindness, and the importance of celebrating diversity and understanding the differences between people. Some books can be used to emphasize this point.
As well as posters that you can purchase online, celebrating diversity and encouraging acceptance. A second way I might teach children gender identities, racial identities, and individual identities is by expanding my lesson to include different cultures such as Eastern European, Russian, and Indian cultures. Each culture has its values, and we should respect their backgrounds and recognize that each of us has unique gender, racial, and individual identities.
All of these factors contribute to creating an environment that is welcoming and accepting of all individuals.
